Cody

Each Saturday morning Nathan takes one of the kids for their Daddy date which involves eating out for breakfast and then running errands with him. This Saturday was Ethan's turn and when they were gone for longer than usual I gave Nate a call to see where they were. They were at Petsmart where they were having a huge adoption day and they decided to go and check it out. Well when Nate saw that they had Lab puppies he really couldn't resist so he picked up this little guy who promptly licked him all over his face. Well, of course it was over for any other dog there because this was the one. He came with the name Yoko and the kids picked out Cody. There choices were Buddy, Chuey or Cody. I kinda really liked Chuey but Cody is really cute as well and it seems to fit him. He is 3 months old and part lab part golden retriever. He has the most beautiful brown coat and pretty green eyes. He follows us around and gives tons of kisses and is just sweet. He loves my hair and buries his head in it when I'm laying on the floor and takes a nap right there in my hair. What a cutie for sure. We had to leave him at home in the crate when we went to lunch today and the next thing we knew, Ethan was in the backseat crying that he missed Cody and Jordyn is just plain scared to death of him and has been screaming ever since we got him. I hope that only lasts for a couple of days. So, call us crazy, but we did it--we actually finally got a dog.

OH. MY!!!! I CANNOT believe you got a dog. He is adorable, my Nate would be in total love with that dog. I don't blame Nate for bringing him home, there's nothing harder than walking away from a puppy. Good luck!!! I hope you make it through the first few months, they're the worst. Just keep telling yourself that, and eventually it gets better. Call me when you want to tear your hair out and send him to the pound. I've got a few good puppy training books collecting dust I could send your way too, if you're interested. :-) I can't wait to meet him. Oh, and Jordy will get over the fear bit soon enough. Kenzie did the same thing with our first attempt at a dog. She spent the entire six weeks we had her standing on the couch in fear every time she came near. Now the girls aren't scared enough of dogs, they go up to any ol' dog on the street and start petting it. Especially Natie. That is one of the good things about having a pet, your kids get over silly fears like that. Okay, I'm done. Wishing you guys some luck!!! :-)

Oh, and one thing that got me through the first few months of potty training angst was baby gates. They're a pain with the kids, but it's so nice to be able to keep the dog contained to one area that isn't too disastrous when they pee "accidentally". Oh, and what would I do without the doggy door?! I LOVE my dog door. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE not having to take the dog out every half hour or EVER once they learn on their own. Okay, now I'm really done. ;-) Love getting all these posts from you!!

Well, I can definitely let down my guard about you nabbing my baby since you now have Cody and he is just so darn cute! We showed Noah his picture and now he can't stop talking about going over to see Cody. Seriously guys! He loves you already! You've got all of his favorite things over there! Ethan, Jordy, big trucks, a pool, the trampoline, and now the cutest dog ever! Noah's never gunna want to come home!
