I had a temporary lapse in judgment while Nate was on his hunting trip. The kids somehow managed to talk me into getting a kitty. Did I mention that I am allergic to cats and hate them? Kittens are extremely cute and lure you in with their purring and soft fur. Who hates cats more than me? Nate....so the only logical thing to do was load the kids up for a cat quest while Dad is out of town. I secretly hoped that none of the kittens would "speak to us" and we would come home kittenless. Well it just so happened to be adoption day at the pet store so there were a plethora of adorable kittens just waiting for agood home to rescue them from the shelter life they were sentenced to....fantastic! We walked around and looked at all the kittens and thought we picked out a cute, mild kitten. Then we saw one that ran up to us and purred and wanted us to play with it. Well, I guess you would call that speaking to us. As soon as we were walking to the car with our new cat, remorse began to set in. Then Nathan, probably sensing the betrayal, happened to call while we were loading all the cat crap into the car. I was faced with 2 possibilities, come clean or try to hide this minor detail for a few more days until he got home and the evidence rated us out. One of my many faults is the inability to lie, so I just ripped the bandaid and outed ourselves. Now remorse really sunk in deep because he reminded me of all the reasons I hate cats and why he hates cats. He was certain I was playing some sick joke on him and that if I wasn't the kids better prepare themselves for when he got home with his shot gun and killed the cat.
Well, as you can see, the cat is still very much alive and well. It is, however, phsyco. That spunk we saw at the adoption center should have been our first clue. It has become extremely entertaining and we now understand all those cat sayings, like scaredy cat and curiosity killed the cat..... We also came to realize why someone would make up a song called smelly cat. That cat had some serious butt rank the first week we had it and I was really regretting having a smelly house. Her tummy trouble are behind her now and to help with the allergies and smell, she is bathed once a week. The first couple times I was looking into getting a titanium suit made so that I would have flesh left on my arms after the bathes. It only took 2 times for her to give into her fate and endure bath time. Keeping the nails trimmed is an art form as well and a must if you like your flesh attached to your body, but she is getting better at holding still for that too. MJ and Jordy love her and she bunks in their room. The pic below is her helping Jordy do MJ's hair. She had been a lot of fun and it is hilarious to see her interaction with our 2 labs.......and the boy's pet hamster....that deserves it's own post....what for next week when we add a goat and some chickens to our quickly growing farm....lol Anyhoo, it's hours of television free entertainment watching that darn cat and especially cute listening to the girls sing "soft kitty" to her. BTW her name is Zazzles, which, I think you will find quite zazzly. :0)
