Pasco
On Thursday Jenny and I hoped on a plane and headed for Pasco to find her and Rick a place to live. We arrived in Portland after a bumpy start at around 6 pm, rented a car and we were off to Pasco. It was dark by now so I had no idea what the scenery looked like for the entire 3 hour drive...well it ended up being a bit longer because we got a tiny bit lost. The next morning it was all business trying to find a place to live. We did manage to eat out for every meal but breakfast and catch a couple of movies. On Saturday night we were not having much luck finding a place to eat out because it was Valentines and there are like 3 restaurants in all of tri-cities. The wait was 2 hours and 45 min to get into Olive Garden. Seriously, Olive Garden??? We tried another place with a mere 2 hour wait and then we ended up at a place called Nothin' but Noodles (which we have here and I've been before) Shayla had never been so it was great to introduce her to a great little place. We still stood in line forever, but it was a great meal and there was a ton of entertainment from all the dressed up teenagers on their way to a dance and being very obnoxious. We also did some shopping for which I wish I had my camera that day. I was trying desperately to get Shayla and Jenny in a hot pair of heels to go with their new dresses they bought. I finally succeeded and they look fabulous!!! It was really comical and I think we destroyed the shoe department at Target so we had to bail and try a couple other stores until we finally achieved success.
On the drive back to Portland on Sunday I finally got to take a look around through the many raindrops hitting the windshield and wow was it beautiful. It almost hurts your eyes to see so much water and trees and green and hills. After we went through the Gorge and hit the Dalles it was snowing but then the sun was actually out when we hit Portland. Sunday was a painfully long day because we left Shayla's at 9:30 am and didn't get home until 1:00 am. We did get to hit Ikea and meet my family for an early dinner though. Jenny and I also played cards on the flight which made it fun. The next day I was talking to my neighbor at the bus stop, who has lived a lot of different places and is loving living here right now, about how green and beautiful it was in WA but how I love our sky here. She had a great analogy. Basically it is this..... You have to keep your gaze cast toward heaven (at the sky) because if you look down (at the brown) you're doomed. Which really is how we should be living life.....Not to say that living in a place like WA where you can look down all the time and see beauty means trouble it just helps people like us living in a brown place with a beautiful sky keep things in perspective. :)
So, even though I was not happy about the reason for the visit we found Jenny and Rick a place to live and got to have a whole lot of fun doing it and Jenny got to witness just how big of a ding bat I am. I had quite a few "blonde moments" while we were were traveling. lol :)
