Scissors

Oh, how I love summer. Today I apparently fell short keeping my 2 youngest entertained enough to keep them out of mischief. We spent most of they day at home only going out for a couple of errands in the afternoon. One of these errands was to a showroom with toilets, sinks, sink fixtures etc... where I had to pick out all of this stuff for my house. Let me tell you taking my 4 children to this kind of place was a nightmare of jumping in bathtubs, sitting on toilets, turning every handle on the display wall, going in the showers and screaming at the top of their lungs to hear the echo............... Seriously, I think it is time to turn in my parenting card! They really weren't all that bad, it was just very distracting and the screaming got them in trouble. We had to make one more stop after this to get some milk and things for dinner so by the time we got home it was already 6 pm.

We had only been home for about 10 minutes when Jordyn and Ethan were laughing hysterically talking about cutting something. I went to the loft and found them hacking a dinner roll to bits on the carpet. Lovely! I ordered them to clean it up and went back to getting dinner ready. Well soon the laughter started up again and Emma came downstairs with a huge clump of Jordyn's hair in her hands telling me that she caught the 2 little ones cutting Jordyn's hair. --insert huge sigh-- I found out that Ethan had made 1 or more of the cuts and it's unclear if Jordyn did any of the damage herself or just encouraged her brother, but they decided to cut her hair just above her ear on the left side of her head and going about half way to the back of her head. Could they have picked any worse place to try out their skills?! I've now got to take her in and get her a nice "boy" cut.

What did I do wrong?---I should have taken the darn scissors when I had them clean up the roll! Sometimes I wonder if I have any brain cells left in my head. I seriously think I am down to about 2 maybe 3 if I'm lucky. In my defense they were the kid scissors that I keep in the closet for them to use when they are cutting PAPER! Who knew they were actually sharp enough to cut hair????? The last time Jordyn cut her hair it was with my hair cutting scissors and she did it in the back right where a cute bob would be cut too. Not so lucky this time......

All I had to do was read the title of this one and my stomach filled with a big ball of dread for you. The word "scissors" is like a curse word to those with children, sending chills down the spine of every mother within hearing distance. It's a good thing Jordy is so darn cute... you could probably shave the girl's head and she'd still be adorable. Hmmmm... shave the head... more than a few moms have no doubt seriously considered it.

I'm with Jen. As soon as I saw the word scissors, I thought..."oh no, Jordy and Ethan have been up to no good...hopefully Jordy came out of it with some hair left!" I'm sure she'll look adorable, even with a boy cut. Maybe she'll be so sad about losing her pretty hair...she'll learn her lesson? :-) Yeah, right! Sending happy thoughts your way!!
