"Freakin' Me Out"

Tonight as we were getting the kids ready for bed, Jordyn came up to me all serious and asked if she could get rid of all her baby dolls. When I asked her why she just shrugged her shoulders and said she just didn't want them anymore. She still had a very serious and sad look on her face so I asked her if there was something wrong. She then told me that "the babies faces just are freakin me out!" So I said OK, let's go get them out of your room right now. So, she went through her closet and started removing the dolls and while handing them to me she would say, 'they are just freakin me out!" When she came to a cabbage patch doll she said "I just really hate this one!" This from a kid who is obsessed with the Grinch and has been for over a year now.
Her Grinch doll doesn't freak her out? I mean, look at that thing! Her favorites are her stuffed high school musical build a bear that she named Kiki and another princess bear called Berry a christmas dog with a red nose she calls rudolph and a unicorn she calls sparkles. She has several more that I can't remember the names of and there are too many name them all anyway. The last few days she has a bed made up on the floor for one of her stuffed animals to sleep on so the others can take turns sleeping in her bed with her. She doesn't want any of them to feel sad or left out. Which is much like her personality with friends at school. Last year she befriended a special needs kid with a horrible home life that had to take medication and she loved being his helper and making him feel better. She would always give me updates like "mom, so and so didn't hit anyone today, he was so good" and other cute little updates like that. This year there is a boy that is a slow learner and she loves to help him out and show him what he needs to do and just look after him. She helps him find his place in line or points him in the direction he needs to go for activities and things like that. What a sweet little girl we have in our family that has decided that dolls are just freaky! :) I guess I still haven't even really recovered from all the Chucky movies and thinking that dolls come to life to kill you, so I guess I can see why they freak her out.
