We just spent some of our Memorial Day weekend camping near
Ponderosa, New Mexico. It is about an hour drive from here near
Jemez. It is nice to be so close to some
ponderosa pine trees and fresh air. We had just traded in our Travel Star trailer for the Sprinter. The travel star was a nice starter trailer for us, but it was a tight fit for our family of 6. It was also a bit on the chilly side because all the beds were pop outs. Our family loves to camp and loves to camp no matter what the weather so we needed something a bit bigger for those rainy trips. We picked up the trailer on Thursday in the rain and
loaded it up in the rain and then left Friday morning in the rain. It was beautiful. When you don't see rain all that often you really love it when it rains. We met our good friends and their 5 kids up there and set up camp in the rain. We got a few spurts of dryness to slosh around outside in before the next rain storm came in so it was still perfect in our book. Saturday was
absolutely perfect weather. It was still a bit overcast, but it was perfect for hiking in. We decided to hike straight up the mountain and ended up about killing ourselves. It wasn't the smartest thing we ever did with 6 kids and 3 adults, but it was fun. We woke up this morning to a beautiful bright warm sunny day and packed up and headed home. The kids had a blast crossing the stream and playing in their tree fort the entire time we were there. We never once heard the dreaded "I'm bored, what is there to do." So, here is our new mystery machine ( I have been watching far too much
Scooby Doo lately) the Sprinter.

I threw in one picture of me kicking back relaxing. Camping can be a lot of work, but I also find it so completely relaxing and peaceful at the same time. No showers (well not everyday), no make up, no phones. Just the great outdoors, campfires, good friends and family. What could be better?
