Influential

Tonight was our official "Girls weekend." Every year on this weekend in May the boys go on a Father and Son camp out while the girls stay home and do girl stuff. I had some prior commitments to attend to so our day got started a bit late, but we finally met up with my sister in law and her girls at Olive Garden for some dinner. I had to run some more errands so we got a special treat while we were out. My oldest picked out fake nails and my youngest picked out lip gloss. When we got home they went straight upstairs while I unloaded all the stuff out of the car. I noticed that it was awfully quiet except for a few whispers coming from my oldest's room. Finally they emerge with giggles to show me this.........

To see a 3 year old wearing fake nails is about the funniest and most wrong thing I think I have ever seen. I made the comment that it was just weird to see nails on such little fingers to which Jordyn repied, "yea, they're wierd and happy." Jordyn thinks she has died and gone to big girl heaven although if you ask her she is a big girl and absolutely not a little girl. She has been prancing around and trying to figure out exactly what one is supposed to do with fake nails. It is a crack up watching her try to carry her blanket or get her jammies on while trying to avoid using her nails. She idolizes her big sister and wants so desperately to be just like her. She mimics every move her sister makes. Most of the time Emma thinks it is pretty cool to have someone idolize her but sometimes she can't stand having this little person following her around everywhere she goes and copying every move she makes. It's about the coolest thing to witness your 2 little girls becoming such great friends and to see how much they adore each other. They are having their own little camp out in Emma's room tonight and I just have to say that they are 2 of the most precious little girls in the world.

I'm so sad that I missed the girls night this year! At least since I know I'm having another boy, I now also know that I've got a few more years of freedom during the one weekend Rick will take the boys out for the Father & Son's Campout. Yet another reason why having 2 boys together is a good thing. We miss you guys!

That is one happy little three year old, for sure! I'm so glad I had two little girls so they can share that sisterly bond that I've been able to have with my sisters and my sister-in-laws, too! Wish we were there puttin' on some fake nails, too...or at least painting our nails and watching a good chick flick at least.
