Thought I should get in the last of the halloween themed pics. The above is our ward's trunk r treat. Emma got everyone ready and we decorated our trunk and the oldest 2 helped with the games. It also contains a couple pics from the actual night of halloween. Emma got everyone in make up again. Only the 2 youngest went out trick or treating and the 2 oldest stayed home and handed out candy. I stayed home too because I had to help Emma's friend make green chili enchiladas to take to her school for a grade. I haven't heard if she got an A, but she did say that they were devoured and everyone loved them...which is saying something for the Santa Fe crowd.
Jared was cracking us up by putting on as many costumes as he could at once. Emma took over the entire kitchen with her make up and Ethan looked like a really cool zombie dude and Emma did the make up for Megan again because she had another party to go to. It was pretty freezing cold on the night of the trunk or treat and Jordyn wanted to wear her pajamas so that costume was thrown together in 2 minutes- if I have to say what she was- it didn't work- but just in case - she was sleeping beauty. :0) At the trunk r treat Jared went around to all the kids "collecting taxes." Not even kidding! He wasn't greeted with the warmest of receptions. haha
On Thursday Jordyn had her school party. I'm not sure what they called it because they were only supposed to dress up as a character in a book....I was worried that I shouldn't bring halloween themed treats but then I remembered that it was a pagan holiday anyway so I'm sure everyone was cool with that....now when we get to Christmas......we shall see.
It was my day to work at the temple and there are only like 5 5th Thursdays a year so I was having a hard time canceling that to go to a party that I really wasn't needed at. But, there was 1 person who felt that I was very needed at the party, so I went. How can you turn down someone who loves to show off her Momma. She told me that when I went in the last time everyone was like "wow, that was your mom, she smell so good, she is really pretty...." I think it's those kind eyes I've been working on ;0) I just love to talk to all the kids in her class which hopefully makes them feel special. How could I let my little girl down? I was able to work for a couple hours in the morning and I was even able to do some of my family's sealings. It was a day full of kind eyes.
A little commentary on the kind eyes. They are not just something you can turn on. There has to be a depth of love and real kindness behind them for them to work. Your vessel has to be full of holy water.
On my way into the school I was met with the above bumper sticker. It is there every time I go, so I am left to deduce that it belongs to a teacher there....which I find rather curious for a teacher to be advocating the turning off or "burning" of anything....besides this person should be really happy that they are slipping quite quickly down the progressive slope and they will soon be sounding like everyone else! :/
Anyway, she was an adorable southern belle and we brought some brownies decorated like pumpkins and she was walking on sunshine because I was there.
