The Legend of the Ice Cube

After my youngest ran around the house flushing an ice cube in each toilet to increase the probability of snow, she sat down on my bed with a confession.

It was Saturday night and I am thinking that the upcoming lack of activities due to the Sabbath being the next day, had her pondering.

She said, "Mom, sometimes I'm not sure the church is true."
Why do you think that is?
"I don't know"
How do you think you could know?
"I guess die, then I would know"
After I chuckled I said, Well, that's one way, what's another?
She shrugged her shoulders and said "well, I do know that Joseph Smith was a prophet because I've learned a lot about it and that stuff really happened"

She makes me smile.  I loved her innocence and that she felt like she could have this conversation with me and be totally honest about it.  It was awesome.  We had a nice conversation about a friend that she brought to church and all the things she gets to do on Sunday because she's not a Mormon.  She also told me the things she tells her friend about being a Mormon.  It's moments like this that you just want to put in a bottle to preserve the memory.
Here's what my little girl "knows"  she put ice cubes in all the toilets and just like the legend says….dun dun dun….it snowed!  The kids were pretty happy when they woke up.  The first question on their minds... "is church cancelled?"
We had to take it pretty slow driving to church because of the ice, but we made it and it ended up being one of the more spiritual church experiences.  As you can see from the picture, snow doesn't last long here in the land of enchantment.  When we got home my insane in the membrane little ones decided that footie pajamas were appropriate snow clothing.  They did have the good sense to add a hat and gloves and Emma caught them on the way out the door and begged them to put shoes on.  Not only did they play around but they laid down and made snow angels in their pajamas!  My husband and I just sat upstairs laughing at our enjoyable offspring.

Apparently footie pajamas are a pretty solid choice when playing in the snow.  I thought they would be soaked and frozen through, but they weren't.  Go figure!
