As many of you know, Texas is a big 'ole state. It is huge. It only takes a few hours to get to TX from ABQ which gets you excited that you are almost there, but the state just keeps going and going and going and going. And going. With a big state comes big smells. Boy oh boy, cow country smells bad. Real bad! Burn your nose hairs bad. Make your eyes literally water bad. Ok, you get the point. Anyway.....to break up the 15 hour trip we decided to stop in Amarillo. What's in Amarillo? Only "The Big Texan", of course. Which is home of the free 72oz steak. Which was featured on one of my family's favorite tv programs where this guy goes around taking challenges and finding amazing food. We had to stop and experience it for ourselves. One of this places selling features is the free limo ride. The prospect of this had the kids flying high, so when we arrived at the RV park we were staying the night at we gave them a jingle to pick us up. The kids didn't care that the limos were from the late 80's maybe early 90's because they were in a limo with oversized 100 dollar bills to play with. I don't think we caught the restaurant on the best night or we just had a crappy server so our experience wasn't the best, but the kids had a ball and I got to drink my coke out of a boot. So, not a total loss and we got to sit right next to the area where you can take the challenge. We can't wait to watch the episode again so we can yell at the tv, "hey, we've been there!"
