Sarah's Baptism

This Saturday we got the awesome privilege of attending my niece, Sarah's, baptism.  I was carrying around 2 crutches so I put Nate on camera duty.  Sarah shared her day with 2 boys from her ward.  I found out from her Mom, my SIL Alonna, that she had forgotten the white towel that Sarah was going to use when she emerged from the font.  The sister that was there from the stake shared with her that that afternoon when she was getting in her car to attend the baptism she returned back in her house and retrieved a white towel to bring.  In her 2 years in this calling she has never one time brought a white towel with her but on this day she felt she should.  Her listening to the prompting to bring a towel saved the day for Alonna.  I love miracles.  My other SIL, Laura,  sang a beautiful solo of "Nearer my God to Thee" while we waited for the 3 children to change.  The other cool thing that happened was on the Friday night before the baptism.  My boys were on the Father and Son campout and my little one was spending the night at our neighbors house, so it was just MJ and I.  I have been a prisoner  in my own home for nearly 2 weeks now and can only go somewhere if I have someone to drive me.  MJ has been busy finishing up school, but I needed to get to the church bookstore desperately.  I begged her to make time to drive me over there.  After I got the boys shipped off and on their way we headed out.  While we were driving over there I had mentioned to MJ that I wished that I had talked to Alonna so that I knew what they were already getting her and see if they had any ideas for what we could get Sarah.  Well, I hobbled out of the car and opened the door and the first thing I heard was my name.  "Hey, it's aunt Heather."  Who was standing in the book store shouting out my name?  My BIL and my 2 nieces.  How cool is that?  Sarah was so excited to show me her brand new triple combination with her name engraved.  I was able to ask her what she had begged for her Daddy to get her in the store but was denied.  A new case for her scriptures.  Perfect.  I had her show me 3 that she liked so it would at least be some sort of surprise.  Again, I love miracles and in my book, this counts.  The only problem I had was that MJ and I are both addicted to the bookstore so I always find more stuff that I absolutely have to have.  I seriously need to be banned from the store.  :0)
We offered up our house for a party after the baptism.  MJ again stepped up to the plate and really helped me out by cleaning up the downstairs.  The boys got home from their campout just in time to help finish up the wiz bang (whirl wind cleaning job on the house) and get showered and ready to leave for the baptism.  The weather wasn't that great but it was nice enough to enjoy being outside.  Luckily I remembered to get the camera back out and take some pictures.  Kamron's mom was able to be there with her newish husband (I'm still not sure what to call him) and some friends of theirs and of course Laura and her family ( Aaron was home sick).  I've said this before but it is worth saying again, family is where it's at. I think we may only have 6 grandchildren left that need to be baptized out of 26.  Great grandchildren are soon on the horizon as we move into the next phase as a family.  Time is a funny thing.  Six months ago I wouldn't have thought the picture with me and my SILs would have been possible.  I have a lot of history with those 2 and as of 6 months ago I hadn't spoken to one of them in over 2 years.  Miracles are here upon the earth and happening every day around us.  It is our job to open our eyes and witness them.  I call it my backstage pass to the beautiful symphony that our Father in Heaven is orchestrating, the weaving of each of us into each others lives to build and strengthen us.  What better time to be reminded of that than when my niece made the first step towards her eternal salvation by participating in her first saving ordinance, her own baptism.
