MJ Driving
Well, the inevitable happened, MJ got her license. After 6 months of logging every minute of driving time trying to reach the mandatory 40 hours of daytime and 10 hours of nighttime she finally got it. The first day of eligibility we were at the DMV getting her legal. I don't think I have seen her that happy in awhile. First thing on her to do list was to go get some fast food. Surprisingly in all those hours we logged she hadn't tried going through a drive through yet. She was a little nervous, but brought her brother along for moral support and off they went. I paced the floor that first time she went out until they were back home. I even had to call my friend so she could distract me while I waited for them. I can say that it has gotten much easier now that the reality of her driving alone has set in and she has been doing it for a month now. But each new scenario gets me worried again. Rain, snow, freeway, new area of town, taking a friend. Luckily she is a grandma driver so I don't have to worry about her hot dogging around town. I do have to worry about her reaction times though, because those are a bit too slow for my liking, but she is getting the hang of it. Do I really have a kid old enough to drive? I will be signing Jared up for drivers training this time next year. Yikers!
