Marked

Although I had an amazing experience being at the Temple with my husband last night, but I'm not going to write about it.  Shocker!  Instead I'm going to talk about our fun at the shooting range this morning.  Jordyn was off having a blast at Activity day camp, so she wasn't in on the fun.  It has been a long time since I've been out on the range myself.  My poor baby (45) has been missing me.

Our first stop was the rifle range.  Emma and Jared got new rifles to go hunting last year and I hadn't had the chance to shoot them yet.  Guns still scare me, but I need to be in good practice in the event of a zombie invasion.  ;)  The picture with the huge shocker smile was after my first shot and I almost let go of the rifle. I squealed like a girl from the kick and the sound.....but I still hit the bullseye. Yeah, I'm that good.  :0)  Nate just shook his head in disbelief.   Just to dispel the "lucky shot" theory I repeated my success over and over.

Jared had to overcome his ptsd from the 30-30.  A couple of years ago he got freaked out by the kick and somehow the hammer smacked into his face below his eye.  As you know, head wounds are bleeders, so it wasn't pretty.  We couldn't leave the area until he picked it up and shot again.  He made Ethan go first as the Guinea pig.  He survived, so Jared finally shot it off and when he realized he was still alive and unharmed he shot a few more times.  Success on overcoming that childhood trauma.

Ethan was having a ball shooting his 22 and was hitting his target like a pro.  The kids took turns sighting each other and I read my book.  It's a book by my favorite rabbi....well it's not like a know many....I only read the works of this one.  It's about the hebrew language and how it is the language of God and once we understand it, we understand him.  I love it.  Perfect reading material for a gun range, yes?  heehee
Next stop was the handgun area.  We were closer to the targets now, so I was able to use my little zombie people to shoot at.  The kids also drew their own creatures on some butcher paper.  I'm not nearly as accurate here, but I still hit the target.  Unfortunately I could only land body shots and as you may know, that will not kill a zombie. haha

Emma is our little redneck daughter who loves to go to the range.  Wear cowboy boots and do "guy" stuff.  She's a pretty good shot to boot.  She acts more tough while doing guy stuff than I do.

I was once again drawn to my book. I think I should start wearing the headphones around the house.  They were very effective in tuning out the outside world.  I was reading some fascinating things about the word for sister which is plural.  Differentiating the pre-married and post-married sister relationship.  The word for brother or son is not plural.  Fascinating.  I'd tell you all about it, but where would the fun in that be?  There's already a book about it.  You might be able to read the title from the picture of it sitting on the table next to E.
