I'm all about being prepared. I love to can. I love being self reliant. So, what do you do with all of the stuff you've canned? Eat it, of course. I used my canned goods all the time. Last night I waited until it was dinnertime to figure out what I was going to make. It couldn't have been easier.
When I was in AZ with my friend, her little ones loved a show that always sang a song about 3 simple steps. The show itself made me want to poke my eyes out, but now the song is stuck in my head. So in honor of the song, here are your 3 simple steps:
Step 1- open all your cans. Canned chicken, White beans and green chili's (I blend my green chili because my family has sensory issues so chunks are out of the question- I just added 2 plops to the soup)
Step 2 - throw it all in the pot with 3 cups water and 3 cubes chicken flavor (because this is doomsday prepping so you are obviously using the nasty unhealthy chicken salt cubes- don't judge) and some salt for the beans (because they are not salted for canning and not even the chicken salt cubes are enough to get those beans tasting good without the extra salt)
Step 3 - eat it!
I forgot to get a picture of the soup before I was putting away the left overs, so that's what was left.
I don't think it even took me 5 minutes to make and it was delish and my kids (well, by boys did and Jordyn ate 2 beans) actually ate it! I'm calling that a success. When I told the kids it was our doomsday meal, Jared said, "so wait, this is all we are going to be eating?" You got it dude......that and popcorn! haha
