Old Lady

One of the yw from my ward is leaving for her mission on the 11th and still hadn't found the perfect shoes.  I'm kind of a shoe expert, vicariously through my foot dr husband, so I took T out to find the perfect non-ugly sister missionary shoes.  :0)

First though, I had to play with her older sister's baby.  It is so fun to see your former yw grow up, get sealed in the temple and have babies....it also makes me feel old.  But, look at that adorable little baby!  I could have held and kissed and smelled him all day long.  I had to send a picture to my hubby because we like to make each other jealous when we get to hold babies.  Oh my goodness he is yummy!  I think I need to hop in the car and go get me some more baby love!
A little more back story.  The mother of these 2 girls and I get mistaken for each other all the time.  In fact, just tuesday I got asked by someone about my daughter going on her mission.  I just claim the girls as my own now to keep confusion down (there are 2 younger ones in yw's with me now).  While we were at lunch we decided to get a picture together to see what everyone sees......I guess there's some similarities....our hair is the same color.  We do look like we could be related, but the same person?  What was even more funny is that after we had this conversation at lunch some friends from an old ward sat next to us.  Guess what they asked?  Are you sisters?  haha  I think it's time we just start saying that we are related because no one believes us when we say no.
Back to the shoes.  It is really hard to find comfortable shoes that are also cute......especially when you are young.  At my favorite sensible shoe store the salesman actually said "yeah, old ladies really love this brand of shoes" then turning to me he says "do you have a pair?"  Why, I believe sir, you just called me an old lady (do you think a teenage girl is going to want to purchase shoes that you just referred to as "old lady").  Then he turns to T and says something about "...your mom...." So any delusion I may have entertained about being T's friend, or cool aunt or whatever was squashed when he called me her mom.  But, like I said, I claim her as my own, so all's good.  We were laughing hysterically about him calling me an old lady......and we didn't buy any shoes from that fool! haha

We had fun looking at all the shoes that weren't mission appropriate and even managed to find 1 pair that were.  Doesn't my "daughter" look like she is going to make a super awesome missionary?
