After each session of General Conference we compare notes. We go around the room and talk about what stood out the most to us in each of the talks. Jared still struggles with the need for taking notes or writing impressions and I'm hopeful after this experience and the mention from the Prophet about writing in his journal, he will decide that it is beneficial. Emma takes copious notes and picked up on every important detail of every talk and Ethan was busy playing with the cats but did manage to write a few things down (his favorite was the story about the blind and deaf man that president Monson talked about). The funny thing was that I didn't even notice that Jordyn was taking notes as attentively as she was.
My 9 year old little girl made me cry when it was her turn to tell us what she learned from Kevin S Hamilton:
"Kevin's father and his family were deciding if the wanted to go to sacrament meeting or go on a country ride the chose country ride it soon drew them far away from the church. Our faith is strengthening by reading the scriptures and going to sacrament. We should always go to church and not play video games on Sunday. We need to attend all the church things. we need to read the scriptures daily. "
There is nothing quite like the spirit that fills the room when testimonies are being shared and born that the written word cannot capture. But as a Mother diligently seeking to strengthen my children and insure they are converted to the gospel so they can withstand the day, I felt pride and peace that we were going to be alright.
I also liked her notes on Terence M Vinson:
" God is our Center. A boy wanted to play cars in the pack there was a rock in his way. His father looked and then said to his son you haven't used all your strength. Yes I have said the boy. No said his father you haven't asked me. Then they moved the rock easily. You always ask for help and you need to pray."
Notes on Russel M Nelson:
"you are never too young to learn you are never to old to change you never stop being a child of God and you love your neighbors and brothers and sisters. We can make weak things become strong you are a temple of God."
Hopefully everyone got as much out of General Conference as my little Jordy did. You really are never too young to learn....or to teach!
