We did it, we got our family mission plan completed tonight. As you can see from the pictures, it was hard to stay on track. It wasn't looking like we were gonna pull this off at various moments of the experience, but we persevered and made our plan...and a song to go with it.
Each of the kids were responsible for ideas and then writing out their section of the plan. First up is Jordyn.
We had the missionaries over for dinner tonight and we were telling them about our plan and how we are trying to figure out how a family of recluses can do missionary work. Ethan loves to draw and for some reason started drawing a map on his part of the plan. Nate decided to capitalize on the drawing and make an analogy of how our family was on an island. We needed to get into a boat to go and meet people. Ethan went with the theme and added it to his picture. I like the warning "don't sink."
Emma did a very nice job on her portion of the plan.
Jared did not want to write out his. He wanted us to just use our imagination to see what he would have written. He came up with a few songs tonight, one of which was "imagination" and the other was "make our home an MTC." We thought it would kick up our awesome factor if we not only made a mission plan but also made a song to go with it. It's a pretty short song, but it is awesome.
Here it is, the final product. I tried not to have too much of an agenda when helping the family to create this. I am a control freak, so it was really hard. The first night didn't go as well as the second night working on it. The general outline is the same as what I presented, but the rest of the family definitely had ideas and those got put on the final plan. There has to be some direction or you will get nowhere fast. One thing I was sure of is that I didn't want any numbers or stats attached to our plan -some people do well with them- I hate them, vehemently. I wanted for us to focus on being converted and true disciples of Jesus Christ, the rest will take care of itself as a natural consequence.
Now to figure out where to hang all of these...
